Dear everyone,
I just went through all your letters and I hope you all did the same - read everyones' letters. You would have noticed that we are all, more or less, in the same direction.
basic vocabulary - key words
basic reading strategies - key sentences, main idea
basic listening comprehension - with the same objectives in mind
Why do we aim for Module A? Because module A caters to different text types at a basic level of English. If we look beyond the exam itself, we will see that most of the texts we use are the types of texts the pupils may or may not be tested on in the future. We are using Module A only as a model of the level of English we want the weakest students to achieve.
So in order to achieve these two basic goals, we can assumably use any text at all. Next step is to decide what kind of strategies we can use to make any text comprehensible to the pupils.
That is what we will do next time.
